Amy is a ceramic artist near Bakersville, North Carolina. Her current work is focused on Egyptian faience, the oldest known glazed ceramic. Egyptian faience is known for its vivid colors and glass-like qualities. There are three ways to make faience, including a special self-glazing method in which salts in the paste come to the surface and form a glaze when fired in a kiln.
Amy makes ceramic jewelry, mostly with Egyptian faience, and she also works with porcelain and fritware.
