Mike L Robinson is the artist behind Third Eye Woodworking. His interest in woodworking sparked during childhood. Armed only with a Foxfire book, he made a raccoon skin fretless banjo, and the concept to design to creation process fascinated Him. For unknown reasons it just came natural. But one needs to learn the theory and derivations of what we do so he set off to school after a stint in the service.
While a proud alumni of Daytona Beach Community College with majors in math and physics Mike’s UCF Mechanical Engineering Degree was temporally interrupted when deployed to Iraq. After suffering wounds in action he returned to his hometown. Finding Daytona a little hectic after his return, he moved to the North Carolina Mountains to find peace and recovery and has been resident of Asheville since 2007.
His art has been sold at art shows around the region and at his previous galleries at the Asheville Downtown Market and Warehouse Studios in the River Arts District.
Michael works with local hardwoods such as walnut, apple, dogwood and more. He takes great pride in his techniques using vintage hand tools for innovative joinery and tries to tune in to the natural frequency of our non-digital cosmos.
