Brad Worden

Brad Worden was born and raised on a small farm in Western Pennsylvania in a family that lived by their hands through carpentry, cooking, and farming. This family history instilled Brad's love of handmade objects and art. With a background and education in Evolution and Ecological Biology, nature and the interconnections among living beings are the inspiration for his art.

After moving to the Asheville area in 2006, Brad began studying pottery seriously, while taking classes at Odyssey Center for Ceramic Arts, Village Potters, and through local colleges. He works with both functional and sculptural forms telling a mythic story and bringing an aspect of the natural world into the hands of the holder.

Brad lives with his family on a bend in Turkey Creek lined with sycamore trees in Leicester, N.C. which inspired the name of his business - Sycamore Bend Pottery. He works out of Squeaky Wheel Pottery Studio in the River Arts and has his work in the Odyssey Gallery for the Ceramic Arts in Asheville.

Brad makes functional and sculptural handmade ceramics decorated with mocha diffusion, hand painting and glazes. His work is inspired by nature and interconnections found in the natural world. Functional work is dishwasher and microwave safe.
