My designs reflect the natural elements that I find interesting. The shape of a leaf. The texture of tree bark. The shape and smooth surface of a water worn stone. The sharp precision of the growth lines in a rough sapphire crystal. All these elements have found their way into my designs at one time or another.
The folds of a silk scarf casually dropped on a tabletop is the inspiration for my Silken Silver line of jewelry. When I incorporate gemstones into a design, I like to have them appear to have grown there, like a crystal in its host rock or hanging off an edge like a drop of water about to fall off a leaf or an apple on a tree branch.
Someone seeing my work for the first time may not appreciate the scientific knowledge and engineering that are required to construct the work. I spend a great deal of time making sure that a piece is both wearable and durable. All parts of a design must be assembled precisely and cleanly so that nothing disrupts the overall appearance of the piece.
