Nirado Sloan creates custom jewelry related to the healing power of the Earth. Her pieces invite the wearer to experience different natural gemstones' symbolism, energy, and potential healing properties. Her work can be found at Artisan's on Main in Weaverville, The Jeweler's Workbench in Waynesville, and Trackside Studios in the River Arts District. Nirado teaches jewelry making at Haywood Community College.
“While practicing in the healing arts, I introduced gemstones into my sessions because gemstones have healing properties. I immediately needed to learn how to create beautiful pieces of jewelry so those gemstones can be worn close to the body. I only use authentic natural stones because of their healing properties. I can use copper based metals to help transmit the energy such as copper or sterling silver which contains copper. The past couple of years I’ve become very passionate about Titanium and have been mesmerized with the technique of painting on the metal using the heat and flame from my torch to create the color. Though I continue to make gemstone jewelry as I love doing that, I have been focused on flame painting Titanium as well as the results are incredible.”
